The World is Her Oyster

There is an old proverb that says “Character is what we do when no one is watching”  This is nowhere more exemplified then with a young lady we call Bre.
Bre is just on the verge of fulfilling her potential.  Just on the verge of leaving childhood behind.  Just on the verge of taking that step into what we call the real world.
One of the coolest things about being a photographer and a high school teacher, is I have a little readymade cliental.  Not really, but in all honesty it is such a privilege to see a student light up in front of the camera and let their personality shine through.  It’s a joy to see a young person ready to take on the world, just on the cusp becoming the future of tomorrow and capture that moment in time through my lens.
Now back to Bre.

When I think of Bre, the thought that no act of kindness, no matter how small is ever wasted, comes to mind.

When Bre was in my class I had the opportunity to witness this first hand.
There was a young lady in the class that was extremely shy and quiet.  No one that sat by her seemed interested in talked to her.  She appeared to be a girl with no friends.  That was until Bre entered the picture.
Without anyone prompting Bre, other than her inner character, she sat down by this girl and began to talk to her.
While I was working with another student, I observed her patiently re-explain the assignment to her and show her how to do it.  What made Bre do this?  Her CHARACTER!
Bre was also an aid to the special needs students on campus.  She didn’t take this on to pad her college resume or get extra credits.  She did it because her heart told her to take it on.  I remember her explaining to me at the tender age of fifteen that she got more from working with the special needs students then she could ever give them. She considered it a privilege to work with them, not the other way around.
It is no surprise that Bre wishes to pursue a career as a nurse once she graduates from high school this summer.  Her bedside manner is already firmly in place.
All this heart and soul is wrapped up in the form of a beautiful young woman.  Brains, compassion, wisdom and beauty, this girl has the whole package.
No one knows this more than Bre’s high school sweetheart of the last 3 years.  Bre and Kylie are the most amazing couple you will ever see.  Although they are both young, they carry themselves and their relation with maturity that is beyond their years.  It is no wonder that they are promised to each other.

We now move into the portion of the shoot where Bre got to showcase her favorite sports team. This is also the area that I don’t know anything about because I do not pay attention to football. If it was hockey or baseball then I would have been all ears.
I don’t think just calling the Steelers her favorite team quite explains how much Bre loves them.  While most girls that love a sports team may have a jersey, shirt and hat from that team, Bre has taken it to the next step by sporting a Steelers purse.
I wonder which one of the following 3 photos Bre will pick for her graduation announcement.
Will it be the Steelers jersey shot?
The cocked head with the smile that could brighten any ones day photo?
Or the confident, I can take on the world pic?
You are one of the special onse Bre!
