Thank you to everyone who took an interested in my last before and after post. It seems this little picture I posted on Facebook is also getting some buzz. So I thought I’d show everyone how I took this photo from SOOTC (straight out of the camera) to the photo at the bottom.
Let’s first talk about how I took this photo. I’m currently shooting with a Canon 5D (not the markii). I am a Canon girl all the way! Why you may ask? Let’s first talk about how I took this photo. I’m currently shooting with a Canon 5D (not the markii). I am a Canon girl all the way! Why you may ask? Just a short reason really and it’s nostalgia. Before my parents took us to Europe in 1986, my dad went out and bought my mom a Canon camera. To this day, they still own that film camera and it takes amazing pictures. I remember being allowed to take a few photos with it on our trip and I was so proud and excited to use such an expensive and grown up camera. That feeling never left me nor the love of Canon.
Ok, deviation over, back to camera talk. As I said I’m shooting with a Canon 5D, with a 55mm 1.4 lens. One of the best things I learned about photography was using the right lens to get the look I use to see online and in magazines. I always loved the subject in focus with the blurred background called Depth of Field. Because I love this look I shoot with a lens the goes down to the aperture F1.4. This was shot this on manual at:
ISO-100
F1.8
6000/sc
So that is how I shot the picture shown above and that’s how it came out of my camera. Now onto the photoshop fun. I work in number of different actions to creat the final effect. The following is what I did. They are listed in the order I ran them.
*MCP Action-Color Burst
*Flora Bella Collection- Classic Vintage 47%
*Totally Rad Actions-Punch Out 75%
*Totally Rad Actions-Select-O-Pop 85%

Then I added my watermark and BAM! We have our final image which I will show to the client.
For this shoot I will use very similar photoshop action recipes/combinations because I wanted the same look/feel for the whole shoot. I love looking at each photo and treating it as a work of art as I post edit. That is why many of my photos will vary in color, texture, tone and contrast.
