Cake in the City

Who amongst us doesn’t stop and drink in the smell of warm baked pastries when you walk by a bakery.  More times than not, I have found myself gracing the door of the bakery, looking longingly at the trays of cookies and cakes.  I have to admit that I have thrown out my diet and healthy eating habits and taken to purchasing a warm cookie (or three).  I tell myself it’s for my boys, but we all know it’s really for me.
Meet Elana.
She’s the type of girl who lights up a room with her smile and quiet demeanor.  Elana always enters the classroom with a skip to her step and a grin on her face, which immediately brightens my day.  When you talk to her you are instantly taken in by her genuine charm and positive nature.  She’s the girl in class that gets along with everyone and is everyones friend.
Elana has her future rolled out and it is delicious!   In the fall she is attending the Culinary Institute of America and majoring in Baking and Pastry.  Her plans don’t stop there.  She plans to open an organic bakery in New York City.  This girl is not only  a culinary “artist”, but a business woman.   Smart and talented, Elana is going to have her cake and eat it too.
Now imagine walking by a bakery, smelling that appealing smell of fresh cookies, creeping into the doorway for a peek of the “off limits” foods, only to find out that it’s not off limits!  It’s organic!
Elana, you are such a positive light in this world.  I am going to twist your arm to make my something delicious and decadent before you graduate.  The world is your plate to fill and I know it will be tasty!
