The Hat and the Trumpet

Photography is open to interpretation. What you see and make meaning from is not the same as what another will see. A bystander may simply see a young boy in a beautiful field. They do not need a backstory to be stirred. It can bring up feelings or longing of lost youth, innocence or a simpler time.

What I glean from these images may be quit different from others. I see the backstory. I see heritage and family history. I don’t merely see these images, I feel them in the marrow of my bones.

My first born wearing upon his head the hat of my grandfather. My son with his small hands playing the trumpet that my father once played. Kaleb standing before the cross which represents the strength of faith which both these men in my life have lived by. The wish for my children to continue in the steps of those that came before them.

My family line is tied up in these images. My past, present and future.

And now because no photoshoot in my world is complete with out these little men: Snuz (Kingston), Kyllian and Konnor.
