Get MADD! That’s what will happen to you once you hear Desiree’s story. This beautiful young lady had her life forever altered in July of 2004. During the wee hours of the morning, a knock on the door brought news that her mother had been killed by a drunk driver.
Instead of diving into the dark depths of drugs, alcohol or depression, Desiree got MADD!
MADD: Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
What started as a volunteer job soon turned into full time employment as the development officer for MADD of Orange County. Her job is to raise money for the organization by showing donors the role MADD plays for victims and prevention. She also pushes MADD’s message that advocates against drunken driving aren’t just moms but are brothers, friends and daughters, too.
Part of what got Desiree through the grief was her faith and belief in God. Desiree’s conviction in Christianity runs deep and wide.
Proverbs 3: 5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.”
Besides her tireless work at mad, this girl is an amazing artist! Desiree and I bonded right away when we started discussing not only our beliefs but our love for art, especially mixed media and collaging. We already have a duel art project in the works!
Doesn’t she look just like a Hispanic Marilyn Monroe? Such beauty and pose exudes from her.
I brought the hula-hoop to the photoshoot, hoping that Desiree would be game to put it in a few shoots.
Not only did she jump at the chance, she rocked amazing
poses with it.
She blew me away with her hula-hoop skills.
Around and around the hoop went, never touching the ground. Yes, I’ve taken the first step by buying the hoop, but I have yet to master the hula aspect of the hoop.
I love the way the back light illuminates Desiree’s essance.
This was such an easy shoot because every shot was a winner.
A classic beauty
Wrapped in the strenth of a warrior
Desiree was a real sport when she posed with the American flag. It was my idea and she wasn’t so keen on it at first.
Needless to say she made it work and then some.
Desiree, I am so glad that we met. You are a true kindred spirit! I can’t wait to get out my paint brushes with you and
Laught, Love, Cry, Believe!
