All photos of this shoot were taken from the seated position!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even before I started taking photos professionally, my favorite thing in the entire world to photograph is children in a pumpkin patch. Fall is my favorite season! Not Halloween, but FALL! I love warm colors like orange, mixed with browns. I love the leaves turning and falling. I love the feeling in the air. I love pumpkins!
My favorite photos of my own children are those I take ever year at the pumpkin patch. You may have seen a McElfish Christmas card or two come your way that featured the family at a pumpkin patch. This year, I”m on bed rest waiting for our new little man to come into our lives, but I still HAD to have pictures of my children at a pumpkin patch. What to do??????
My husband and I came to a compromise so that I could enjoy this yearly outing while still keeping mamma and the new baby safe. I could bring my camera as long as I promised to take all the photos from the sitting position. Be it the hard ground or a pile of hay, I had to be seated. He promised to do all the chasing after the boys. So, here we have an entire photo shoot taken from the seated photographer.
Every year so far, I’ve dressed my boys in overalls for our pumpkin photo shoots. Now that Kaleb is on his 4th year of this, I thought that I would change it up a little with some cowboy hats. I’m sad to say that next year Kaleb may be to big for overalls as I have not been able to find a size bigger then the 5T he is wearing this year.
We all got to go on a little wagon ride over to the pumpkin patch. Once again, I got to sit!
This pumpkin patch allowed the boys to pick and pull their pumpkins still attached to the vine! This was a first for them. It was great to see their excitement of seeing how pumpkins look before they end up at the
grocery store and other pumpkin patches we’ve been to.
This photo is so American Gothic. If you haven’t seen the painting take a look here for a comparison American Gothic Painting
This photo is more like these two best friends. Still the one above is priceless!
The boys were told that they could only pick a pumpkin that they could carry. I expected them to try for something a little bigger, but at least they obeyed. Konnor tends to like to take more then his share. He just couldn’t decide which pumpkin he wanted so he decided to take two home.
Next year, there will be three little McElfish boys in my pumpkin photo!
Little Konnor had about had it after an hour. He decided to come and have a rest by mamma.
Yes, Konnor was really tired. Although I wanted to be the one to be carried to the car by my husband, Konnor won out. I love the floppiness of Konnor in this one!
I apologize to all those who had requested their own pumpkin patch photo shoots this year, which I was not able to accommodate because of pregnancy. I will be up around shooting again in the New Year!
