“Mamma, Jedi’s DON’T Hug!” Kaleb announced to me when I asked him to hug his little brother for a Halloween brother photo. Yes, this is how my night began when trying to get photos of my little Jedi’s.
Where my little Padawan learned this bit of Jedi knowledge is beyond me, but luckily the force was stronger with me and I was able to use a Jedi mind trick to get them to hug.
As a rule, I am not a big fan of Halloween, except when it comes to little kids in costumes. That’s when the photographer in me gets super excited to capture some amazing shots and the mommy in me works to find the perfect costume for her kids.
This Halloween posed some “tricks” for me when it came to shooting. For one, I am 2 weeks from my newest little one from being born and getting into a good position to shoot was more then a bit challenging. For another, I am suppose to be sitting/resting which means getting a great shot is a lot more tricky. Lastly, getting two little boys to work with me for photos when all they wanted to do was run to the next door to get more candy was next to impossible.
So this isn’t my best possible shoot, but thankfully I was still able to capture what I was going for. And as a mother of two who is 38 weeks pregnant, that’s all I could ask for from myself.
What more perfect characters could my boys have picked then Anikin and Luke Skywalker! Konnor was just to die for as the youngest jedi around. The little guy really didn’t have much choice in what he was going to be for Halloween. Kaleb decided that while he was going to be Luke, Konnor had to be Anikin and wear the “dark” costume.
At two and half Konnor had done all the sounds that boys make for the lightsaber as he used his weapon. He is also able to make all the breathing sounds that Darth Vader makes through his mask. “Hooooooooooo Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”
As a girl, I don’t get this sound effect thing, but I am learning quickly with all the little boys in my life.
My little Jedi’s had the best time fighting each other with their lightsabers. Thankfully, the husband and I were able to keep their lightsaber battle low key so that no one got hurt or ended up in tears. Along with Jedi’s not hugging, I believe Jedi’s are not suppose to cry.
Ready to fight off the evil Lord Syth!
Personally, I love when light creeps into a photo like it has above. Even if it’s not “techniqally correct” I like to think of it as an angel making it’s way into my photo.
This little Jedi was very, very, very excited to get going for Trick or Treating. It seems his parents were taking to long to get going, so he had to take control.
As Anikin Skywalker, Konnor believed he was the best pilot in the galaxy and that included driving his mamma’s car. This kid is just a little advanced. Patience young jedi. You have fourteen years before you are legally allowed to drive. Even then, I may have to think about letting you get a licence.
Could Kaleb have picked a more perfect costume then Luke Skywalker from the original Star Wars? With his little blond hair cut, he was the total embodiment of Luke Skywalker. Kaleb even took on Luke’s characteristic of whining and pouting when he did not get his way, which did not please his two Jedi parents.
Ah Konnor, you have us all fooled. The perfect little angel, as you pretend to be (left photo) but we all know that you are a total ham, with baddness lurking just below the surface (right). You sure do make life fun!
Happy Halloween to you all!
Until next year’s costumes and candy……….
