Kissing a Frog

“Wendy, sometimes you have to kiss a lot of frogs to find your prince”.  These were wise words given to me by my mother after the end of another romantic relationship.  I laid my head on her lap and let the tears flow.  I had dated a lot of toads, so where was my prince?  My mother was so right!  After years of toads I found and married my prince in August of 2003.
In June of 2012, Yvette will marry her prince Steven.  One of the wonderful things I love about the engagement shoot with a couple before the wedding is I get a chance to REALLY get to know their love story.  No two stories are the same.  As a girl who got her degree in English (haaaaa I fooled all of you, I didn’t major in Art or Photography) I LOVE stories.  I felt like I majored in stories.
Yvette and I were able to sneak in a little girl time before Steven arrived for our shoot.  She shared how she had dated frogs all her life, who had left her with a slimy mess…….until she met Steven her prince.  She told me of all the ways he treated her like a real life princess and made her feel like she was royalty.  I believe EVERY girl should be treated like this!  My heart went out to her when she told me stories of old toads in her life and leap with joy for her with  tales of the arrival of her prince.
As soon as I met Steven, I knew Yvette had found a true gentleman. In this day and age those type of men are hard to come by.  I instantly fell in love with the two of them together.  He was so caring and gentle with Yvette.  You could see how much they adored each other.  During the shoot I started to miss my own prince and couldn’t wait to go home and snuggle next to him.
To all those that feel like their life has been filled with frogs, keep believing that you will kiss your prince.  It happen for Yvette and it happened for me.  Fairytales do come true.
